Which areas of Ayrshire do you cover?

For dog walking and short visits, I cover Fairlie, West Kilbride, Dalry, the Three Towns and Kilwinning.  For pet sitting, I’m very happy to travel across Ayrshire.

What are your prices?

Accepted Answer

Prices start from:
• Dog walking: £12 per hour for regular weekly bookings, £15 per hour for all other bookings
• Pet visits & home checks (30 minutes): £10
• Pet sitting: £40 for up to 24 hours
Packages are available for multiple services, long-term bookings, and multiple pets. Custom services are available - just ask.

Are you insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes. I'm insured for the pet care services I provide, including cover for your pet while they are in my care (care, custody & control) and public liability insurance. For peace of mind I provide copies of my certificates in your welcome email alongside your pet care login information.

Do you have experience of pet sitting and house sitting?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Before Gibbs Pet Care was formalised, I have house sat and cared for other peoples pets on an informal basis.  I have also spent summers volunteering on smallholdings in France, caring for dogs, chickens, sheep and donkeys too!

Do you have any qualifications in Pet Care?

I'm completing the following courses and will continue with professional development as part of running my pet care business over the long term. 1. Pet First Aid 2. Animal Care Certificate - with the Animal Care College (Pet sitting & dog walking) 3. CPD courses with the British College of Canine Studies.

Will my dog be walked with other dogs?

Accepted Answer

I offer 1-1 walks or paired walks for dogs from the same household, as long as I feel it can be done safely and enjoyably for everyone.

Do you work with reactive dogs?

Accepted Answer

Yes, I work with some dogs who are reactive, nervous, or need extra space. This is decided on a case-by-case basis, depending on your dog’s needs and after gathering more information or at the free meet-and-greet.

Are you a dog trainer?

Accepted Answer

I am not a dog trainer. My role is to care for your dog safely and kindly, using good practice and common sense, following the routines and guidance you already have in place. If a dog needs support beyond what I can safely provide, I may suggest another suitable pet care provider who may be better placed to help.

Do you offer emergency or last-minute bookings?

Where possible, yes. If you’re in a difficult spot and need last minute cover, you're welcome to get in touch and I’ll see what I can do.

Do you offer longer-term house sitting (more than 3 days)?

Accepted Answer

At the moment I have availability for Friday to Monday overnight pet sitting and occasional week nights.  Send me your dates and location and I’ll confirm availability.

What animals don’t you work with?

Accepted Answer

I work with most pets, including dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs and fish. If your pet isn’t listed here just ask and If I think I can help I'll pop out to meet you both for a free meet-and-greet. If you have a small holding or similar and have farm yard animal pets that you require a pet visit for just let me know and I'll see if I can help.

I am a qualified sports coach and experienced college sports coordinator.

Why did you decide to start a Pet Care business?

Accepted Answer

We have had dogs in our family for all of my life including 'mongrels,' labradors, a spaniel and a boxer! I love all animals and it has been my dream since childhood to be able to work with them. I am 43 now and this is also a role that is physically active and compliments and fits around my sports interests. I also enjoy helping people too!

What happens at the meet-and-greet?

We’ll discuss your pet’s routine, behaviours, needs, and preferences. You can show me where things are kept, and I can answer any questions before confirming your booking.

How do I book a service?

Send me a message with your location, the service you require, the pets you have, and the dates you need. I may ask further questions and if I think I might be able to help, I’ll confirm availability and arrange a free meet-and-greet.
